These
are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from
the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
far above all rule and
authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in
this age but also in the one to come.
Ephesians 1:19-21 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
The gifts and inheritance I
talked about yesterday are in accordance with the work He did on the cross. At
that time, He permanently defeated death and sin. He is that powerful. That is
His strength, and it is that strength and power which He works in us. Christ
has all power and authority. He is the dominant being of all creation and will
remain that way for eternity. It is important that we believe this because it
is the crux of our faith and salvation. If He is not the supreme ruler and
authority, if He didn’t defeat death and sin, if He is not in ultimate control,
then He is not powerful enough to save us. We would have no hope for eternity
because He would not have the power of resurrection. We would have no hope of
defeating sin because His power would not be enough. In order for us to have
that inheritance, hope and glory, He has to have that power and authority. We
have to believe in that power and authority, and submit to Him as our Lord,
otherwise none of it means anything. It is just words and vain belief. Do you
believe that God has that power and authority? Have you submitted to His power
and authority in your life, following His will instead of your own? What is
holding you back?
