For God did not send the
Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved
through Him.
John 3:17 New
American Standard Bible (NASB)
Of all verses in the Bible,
the most well known is probably John 3:16, “for God so loved the world…” but
the verse that comes after is just as, if not more, important. It clarifies God’s
purpose and heart. God sent Jesus into the world for this purpose. From the
beginning of time, when man sinned and became enemies of God, there needed to
be a remedy, a plan to fix the problem. That plan was Jesus. He came at the perfect
time to save the world through His sacrifice. It was only by the shedding of
His perfect blood that the debt of our sin could be paid and we could be made
right with God. Jesus came to save the world, not condemn it. Those who don’t
believe in Him condemn themselves by their unbelief. It is not that God sends
them to hell, but they choose to go there by rejecting Him. Jesus made the way
for us to be saved, all we have to do is accept it. Have you accepted His sacrifice
and payment for your sins? Do you receive Him as your Savior? Whether you gave
your life to Christ today or 50 years ago, this is a message that we all need
to hear every day.
