Devotions: Assurance in Calling

It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

What were we called for? Salvation. We were called, chosen, to be saved and share in the glory of Christ. This verse comes toward the end of a chapter talking about the coming apostasy of many, a sign that the end of time was drawing near and many would fall away. We should not be afraid of the times to come, or the times we are in, because we are chosen and called. God wants us to be saved, and we are, so we have no reason to fear. We are secure, and no matter what happens here on earth, eternity will be far better. In fact, we have every reason to thank God, because He chose us, because He saved us, because we have reason to hope and not fear. Instead of fear or doubt, we need to give thanks and stand firm in what He has called us. We have full assurance, so we should give thanks for it and stand firm in it. God has already won the hill, now we need to guard it! Are you standing your ground? Are you thankful the battle has already been won? Are you ready for battle to gain the glory of Christ?

I apologize that my writing has been so sporadic, my schedule has been pretty crazy the last few weeks. I will try to be more regular in the future. Thank you for your patience!
