Devotions: By Your Side

‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

In the midst of predicting Israel’s judgment and fall, God offers hope. There would be judgment and discipline for sin, but He would not forsake them. He would restore and strengthen them. It is so easy to become fearful of what is around us, to get caught up in the horrible things happening, but we were not given a Spirit of fear. We are not alone. Yes, the world is going downhill fast, but God is in control. He is more powerful than any force in this world. He has already conquered satan. God is with us no matter what happens, and He is faithful to keep all of His promises. Do you doubt that? Do you believe that you will fall through the cracks, that you are somehow the exception? Don’t let satan deceive you. He wants to keep you defeated and fearful. God IS faithful and He cannot change or be otherwise. Trust in Him. Ask Him to quiet your fears and answer your doubts. He will!
