Devotions: Established Peace

Lord, You will establish peace for us,
Since You have also performed for us all our works.
Isaiah 26:12 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The word peace refers to yesterday’s verse, that He will keep us in peace because we rely on Him. It is more than just peace of circumstance, or even peace of mind, but being protected and safe guarded in everything. God is the one who accomplishes this. He is the one who accomplishes everything. Nothing we do is really completely of ourselves. We can do nothing apart from Him, not even breathe. Everything in us that is good is from God. Everything worthy and admirable is from God. We owe everything to Him, and without Him we are and can do nothing. Peace comes from acknowledging that, from submitting to Him and admitting our true state of utter helplessness. It is only in embracing our need for Him that we can find true peace and contentment. Do you trust God? How aware are you of your need for Him? Are you willing to acknowledge that you can do nothing without Him and give over control of your life to Him?
