Devotions: A Place of Peace

The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The word translated steadfast literally means to prop up, to lean on, support or sustain. The word translated mind actually means purpose, frame, imagination or work. Basically, those who completely trust and rely on God for everything, God will guard or watch over completely, in safety, peace and welfare. This is a result of trusting in God. We have to go to God, to rely on Him for everything, in order to allow Him to guard us. This refers to more than just peace of mind, it encompasses our total well being. Yet, the crux is that we have to go to Him. It’s like having a bunker or safe room. It can only protect us if we stay in it. If we leave we will not be protected. So with God, if we stay “in” Him, relying on Him, trusting Him, leaning on Him, He can and will protect and provide for us. If we wander out from under His arm, we are taking life into our own hands, away from His protection. Staying in Him, having that protection and safe guard, gives us peace of mind like nothing else can. The world could be falling in around us, but if we stay resting in His care, we know that we are safe. Our trust results in His protection which yields peace. Do you rely on God for everything? Do you trust Him to take care of you? Turn to Him, the Prince of Peace. Let Him guard your life and give you peace.
