I was crying to the Lord with my voice,
And He answered me from His holy mountain.
And He answered me from His holy mountain.
Psalm 3:4 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
This psalm was written as
David fled from Absalom, his son. Not only was his then eldest son trying to
kill him in order to usurp the throne, but many of his followers betrayed him
while others openly mocked him. In the midst of his deep pain he cried out to
God openly. He didn’t hide it from any one. In the middle of a short prayer for
deliverance, David breaks into worship, praising God for being his shield and
fortress, for being his glory and joy. While in the midst of this terrible
situation he praised God for answering him. Even though he hadn’t seen the
answer yet, he knew that God would. He believed that deeply enough that he
praised God for it before it happened. That is the depth of his faith and
conviction in God. Do you trust God that deeply, that you can praise Him for
answers you haven’t received yet? Take a step of faith and praise Him for the
answer He will give you for whatever you are going through.
