In the day of prosperity be happy,
But in the day of adversity consider—
God has made the one as well as the other
So that man will not discover anything that will be after him.
But in the day of adversity consider—
God has made the one as well as the other
So that man will not discover anything that will be after him.
Ecclesiastes 7:14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Solomon, the wisest man in
history, knew as Job did that God is Master of time and space. He controls
everything. Solomon also knew that good and bad happen to everyone. No one has
a perfect life (no matter what they post on facebook or instagram). All of our
days are ordained by God and He knows what will happen in every one. We need to
remember that no matter what happens in life, God knows the future and we
don’t. We can either choose to trust in His goodness and love, that He will
take care of us, or choose to reject and hate Him for not making life happen
the way we want. Living life in selfishness only makes our suffering worse and
God knows this. That is why He wants us to trust in Him. That is why He tells
us to live life His way, because He knows what is best for us, even if we can’t
see it. He really does have our best interest in mind, and most of the time it
is better than what we would plan for ourselves. God is in control whether we
like it or not, whether we believe in and trust Him or not, we have only to
decide what we will believe. Will we believe in Him, believe that He is wholly
good, and trust Him because of that truth? Or will we reject that truth and be
bitter and selfish, refusing to trust Him with the good and the bad? The choice
is yours.
