Above
all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude
of sins.
1 Peter 4:8 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
This verse comes just after a
reminder that the end of time is near, and things will continue to get worse.
It is so important, especially when things are hard, to remain true in love for
each other. This is not so much a feeling as an action. The greatest love is
sacrifice for those who don’t want it. That is what Jesus did. We should do no
less. One might ask, “what about what that person did?” The whole point of love
is that it covers a multitude of sins, a host of offenses. Love is not easily
offended, nor does it keep a record of wrongs suffered. If we are not keeping
track of what others have done to us, we will be more willing to treat them
with love. If we are not easily offended, but rather are gracious, we will have
better relationships. Remember the love God has for you. Remember that your
love for others proves that you are His. Be willing to truly love those around
you no matter what they have done.
