Devotions: Wandering Sheep

All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.
Isaiah 53:6 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

So many people fail to come to Christ either because they think they are too bad, that they have to be perfect first, or because they think they are good enough and don’t need to be saved. Many who even claim to believe Jesus fail to repent of their sins, thinking they are naturally good. But that is just not true. We are all born sin-filled. We all by nature turn to do our own thing rather than follow Christ. No one loves God of their own accord. It is only because of God calling us that we can or will turn to Him. Yet, even though it is our nature to hate God, He still willingly died for us. The wrath for the sins of the world fell on Christ. He paid our debt when we didn’t deserve it, and we will never, could never, deserve it. It is a gift of His grace, but in order to receive, we first have to realize that we don’t deserve it and that we don’t have to. Have you received it?
