Devotions: Newness to Come

And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Revelation 21:5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

This verse also refers to two happenings. In part, it refers to the newness God is working in each of us, but it also refers to the new Heaven and Earth He will create at the end of this, to the immortal life and bodies we will be given at that time, physical bodies which will not decay, age or be injured. There will be no more pain, sorrow or death. Everything will be made new and perfect, as it was intended at the beginning. The newness God is working in us is a sign, a down payment if you will, of the complete newness He will make in the time to come. When you are longing for that time, maybe wondering if it will ever really happen, look inward, see the newness God is working in you and remember His promise of the newness to come!
