Behold,
I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
This prophecy was written by
Isaiah, in part foretelling of the renewal God would bring after the exile. Yet
many prophecies have dual meanings. The first, literal meaning of this prophecy
referred to the Jews’ physical return to Israel and the healing God would do
in the land. But the second meaning referred to the spiritual return to Himself
God would create and work in the hearts of man. Before salvation, we all are
dry and barren. Our hearts are dead, lost in a wilderness. But with Christ
comes not only salvation and reconciliation with God, but a fountain of life,
water where there had been desert, a path where there had been wilderness, life
where there had been death. This is the “newness” God is doing. It is in us!
Are you aware of the newness of life He is working in you?
