The
Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient
toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
This “promise” is again
referring to Christ’s return, the time when He will make all things new
permanently. The world has been waiting for centuries and none knows when it
will happen. Sometimes we wonder if it really will, as long as it is taking,
but Peter wanted to encourage us. The previous verse said that time is
different to Him than it is to us. He is not bound by time, so it does not
affect God like it does us. And He is not being “slow”, or avoiding, fulfilling
that promise. He is waiting for the last possible person to be saved. He
doesn’t want anyone to perish unnecessarily. When the time is right, when the
last person has given their life to Him, then He will return and make
everything new. Don’t give up! Trust in His promise!

Well said, right on!
ReplyDeleteGod is longsuffering and I'm so very thankful for that as I have loved one's for whom I pray will come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.
God is certainly true to His promises, reading the Scriptures on history proves that He is.
Beautiful post, dear friend~
