knowing
that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
James 1:3 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
Testing is never fun, whether
it is for work, school or daily life, no one enjoys it. Many seek to escape
testing (usually not realizing that is what it is) by ignoring it or trying to
make it go away. Others simply endure it without learning, feeling sorry for
themselves for what they suffer. But testing has a purpose, like the testing of
precious gems or metals. They require pain and suffering, but they prove the
true worth and remove the impurities within. When we are tested, it produces
patient endurance. We learn to trust God and wait on His timing without
grumbling or complaining. We become stronger, more confident and joyful. But
this only happens if we are willing to submit to God, to learn through our
trials, and refuse to escape them through drugs, day dreaming, etc. We have to
have a mindset of submission, humility and joy. We have to understand that God
is working in our lives. We have to believe that God’s promises are true. When
you face a trial, instead of resisting or pouting, ask God to help you endure,
to have faith and trust, to use it for your good and His glory.
