Devotions: Sharing Gratitude

I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.

Psalm 40:10 New American Standard Bible 1995

The goodness and greatness of God is not something about which we should be silent. We should proclaim it where ever we go. Sharing what He has done for us and how good He is should be a part of everyday communication no matter who is listening. We should not keep the proof of His justice and righteous acts to ourselves. He is steadfast and unwavering, completely trustworthy and faithful. We should share how He has saved and delivered us, from sin but also from other circumstances. His great love for us should be so amazing to us that we cannot keep quiet. We need to share His truth, faithfulness, reliability and constancy with everyone especially with believers so that we can encourage others in their faith. I love it when our pastor opens up time to share testimonies of what God has done or is doing. It is so encouraging to hear how He is working in the lives of others and helps us to be more grateful because it opens our eyes to His many blessings. Sharing our blessings and what God has done in our own lives not only encourages others but also helps to remind ourselves of His faithfulness and love.

I think often we are not open to sharing God’s goodness either because we are not aware of what He is doing or because we don’t really, truly believe that He is good, just or loving. If the truth of His love and blessings were firmly seeded in our hearts we could not help but share His greatness. We are shy about it because we are thinking of ourselves and how others will view us, or because we are not firm enough in our convictions to act on them. If we are aware of all that He has done for us and believed in the core of our being how good and loving He is we could not help sharing it.

Are you open to sharing with others about all God is and has done? Is talking about Him part of your everyday conversations, or even any conversations? Do you shy away from attributing help to Him? Ask God to open your eyes to what He has done and is doing for you. Ask Him to help you see how amazing He is, to reveal His truth to you. Ask Him to help you be bold and confident in who He is and who you are in Him so that you do not hesitate to share His good news.
