In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of
His will, according to His good pleasure which He set forth in Him,
regarding His
plan of the fullness of the times, to bring all things together in Christ,
things in the heavens and things on the earth.
Ephesians 1:9-10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
In God is all wisdom and
knowledge. He knows everything; past, present and future, and all true wisdom
has its source in Him. Through this wisdom God showed us the great “mystery.”
That mystery is His work of salvation and resurrection. First, how is it that
God would send His Son to pay for our sins? We are righteous, if we believe,
because of Jesus’ blood which covers us. It is not a righteousness of our own.
Also this salvation is not only just for the Jews, but for everyone. We all
have the opportunity of salvation. Second, resurrection, the raising of the
dead, is also a great mystery. How can what is dead be made alive again? Yet He
does it, and because Jesus was resurrected permanently He (and subsequently we)
has victory over death. It was God’s will for all of this to happen, and He
planned it before the beginning of time, before there was a need for salvation.
This is in accordance with His kindness and will which He determined or planned
with and through Jesus. This is all in respect to the fruition of His plan of
salvation, the coming of His kingdom which happened when Jesus came so that all
could be made complete and unified in Christ. It was a unification of the
universe in a sense.
God not only planned all of
this because He is kind, loving and wise, but also intended to reveal and
explain it to us. He does not treat us as little children or animals to simple
to understand. He communicates with us what is His will, as much as we can understand.
He reveals the goodness of His plan and His kind intentions toward us so that
we can love and trust Him. He wants us to know and trust Him fully.
Do you know His love and
kindness? Do you trust Him fully? Ask Him to help you know and trust Him more
with each day
