If
you address as Father the One who impartially judges according
to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;
1 Peter 1:17 New
American Standard Bible (NASB)
God does not have favorites.
He is Judge of all creation, but He is a perfect judge and is not partial,
biased or bribed. He judges everyone according to what they have done. If we
call on Him as our heavenly Father, meaning we believe in Him as God, Creator
and Savior and have given our lives to Him, then we should act out of reverence
for Him. Rather than living however we want and assuming His grace will cover
the sin we chase, we need to do our best to be holy as He is holy, to live like
Him, and desire to put off the things of this world. We should not live with an
attitude of entitlement, assuming that we deserve to be saved, because we don’t.
It is important that we remember why we needed to be saved in the first place,
and the very great price it cost Jesus to buy our salvation. It is not a thing
to be taken for granted. What doe Jesus’ sacrifice mean to you? Do you live in reverential
fear of God as your Judge? Ask God to reveal how very awesome He is and remind
you from where you have come.
