I have chosen the faithful way;
I have placed Your ordinances before me.
I have placed Your ordinances before me.
Psalm 119:30 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
How
do we live? How do we choose what to do and how to act? It is interesting to
note that the original Hebrew verb for “I have placed” can also mean to
resemble or become like. The way that we make sure we are on the right path is
first to choose the right path. We
always have a choice, and we need to make sure that choice is the right one.
The best way to make sure that we choose the right path, though, is to keep
God’s perfect judgments or ordinances in front of us. If we are continually in
the Word and keeping that line open with God, He will make the right path
obvious. However, there is another way to do that as well, and that is to make
sure that we are already living it. If we “resemble” the ordinances of God, we
will know what path to choose because it will be the one that is “like” us. If
our lifestyle (another translation for “way”) is according to God’s ordinances,
it will be natural to choose the path that is already aligned with that way of
life. That is how we choose the right way, by living the right way. How do you live? Do your choices and
lifestyle match what God’s Word says? Ask God to help direct your path, but
also ask Him to help you “resemble” His Word.
