looking
for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and
Savior, Christ Jesus, who
gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for
Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
Titus 2:13-14 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
This should be our motive and
hope, our joy and purpose. We look forward to the fact that Jesus, who has
already redeemed us from sin, will return and renew the world. He will make all
things new and restore the world to perfection. That is why He came, that is
what we celebrate at Christmas; in order to redeem and restore the world, He
had to come first as Savior. He had to redeem our hearts before He could
restore the world because He wants us with Him in the new world. Yet, it is
only through His redemption that we can be. He came to redeem us from sin so we
could obey Him and live in newness of life. He came to purify us for His own
possession. We need to be zealous for the things of God, for the work that He has
planned in advance for us. Look forward to that blessed hope. Let that be what
keeps you going throughout the day and what keeps your heart lifted up in the
dark.
