Devotions: Planned Work

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
Romans 8:29-30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

God knew us before hand. He planned and made each of us before the beginning of the world. He knew who would believe and who would not. Those of us who believe He planned to become like Jesus. We have been called to adoption as heirs along with Jesus of God’s righteousness. He made a way for us to be justified, sending His Son to die on our behalf, to pay the penalty for our sins. We could never be justified, or adopted, or heirs on our own. We need His sacrifice. Because He justified us He is also working on glorifying us. He is in the process of making us like Him, so that we can enter His glory in the next life. He is working in our lives, continually, to bring about His plan. We don’t usually see it, but He is there, working in His timing, so that we will be ready at the right time. We have to remember that His timing is not ours. He doesn’t work by our deadlines. Trust God. Wait for His timing and work with His plan to make you like Him.
