Devotions: Favored Work

Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And confirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes, confirm the work of our hands.
Psalm 90:17 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

No matter what we do, if we do it in our own strength it will yield little. We need God to work in us. We need to do the work He has for us. It doesn’t matter how many orphanages we build, or churches we plant, if we are not doing it for God, at His calling, our work is useless. We need God to confirm what we do, to give it permanence, to make it have eternal impact. We need to seek God’s will in what we do rather than doing what we want. We should seek His will and do as He directs. Then our work will be established and will have lasting, eternal impact. What do you do, that is merely something you want to do, yet haven’t asked God if it is what He wants you to do? Our work, no matter if it is a job, hobby, ministry, or service, should all be done at His direction. We should not do any of it lightly. We need to seek His guidance in everything. Then everything we do will have a lasting impact and the favor of the Lord. Seek His favor, seek His will and direction. Let Him guide your work and actions.
