He
has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
God tells us how we are to
act, how we can imitate Him: first we are to be just. God is a God of justice.
We should be people of justice. We need to be just in our dealings with others,
fight against injustice and seek to help those who are mistreated. Second, we
are to love kindness. Kindness is another of God’s attributes, one which He
bestows on us far beyond our right. Likewise, we should be kind to everyone no
matter how they treat us, just as Christ was kind to us before we believed. In
this way, mercy is tied with kindness. We deserve death but He gave us life.
Lastly, we are to walk humbly with God. We need to realize the great gift God
has given us. we need to realize that we could never deserve His kindness and
mercy. We need to walk in humble gratitude, praising God for His gift rather
than demanding His blessing. Do you do as the Lord requires?
