I will never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have revived me.
For by them You have revived me.
Psalm 119:93 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
God’s precepts are His
prescribed rules of conduct. They’re not just good advice or hypothetical
ideas. It is the way He commands us to live, note the word commands. It is not an option. Of course, we have the freedom to
choose not to live the way God says we should, but that choice comes with a
price. David knew that. Living the way God says brings life and revives us when
we have wandered from His truth. That is why God says to live that way, because
He knows it is the only way to have life. Any other way ends in ruin and
despair. God breathed life into us at the beginning, and it is that Spirit He
puts in us that keeps us alive and revives us, but it doesn’t work if we have
grieved the Spirit, if we have unrepented sin in our hearts. That is why we
need to be revived, and it only happens by returning to God’s prescribed
lifestyle. We cannot live however we want and expect God to bless us. We have
to live the way that He lays out in scripture. Do you need to be revived? Do
you remember God’s precepts? Will you commit to them now so that the Spirit can
breathe life in you again?
