I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I did not hide;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”;
And You forgave the guilt of my sin.
And my iniquity I did not hide;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”;
And You forgave the guilt of my sin.
Psalm 32:5 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
This psalm was also written
after David’s sin with Bathsheba. It records the restoration and reconciliation
that can happen after sin, even grave sin, if we do not hide from God but turn
to Him in humility and repentance. It talks about the blessedness of
forgiveness and trust in God. We all sin. We all fall short, but that doesn’t
mean that we have to stay there. We don’t have to be defined or controlled by
what we have done. We can let all that go and instead be defined by what God
has done for us. Every time we sin we can turn to God in humble repentance,
accepting His grace and love, so that we can be restored and made new. Through
Christ we have the power to turn away from sin, to break that bondage, and live
a life in the fullness of Christ. That is the beauty of the cross! That is the
good news of the Gospel! He can make us new. He can restore us. He can heal us.
Turn to Him! Repent of what you have done and turn away from it. Accept His
forgiveness and healing. Be made new.
