The "With-ness" of God

Made to be together

Eternally pulled apart

Longing for one another

With permanently broken hearts

Destined for eternal sorrow

No hope to be made new

We all are lost and broken

Only punishment in view

Yet Almighty God could not bear

To watch the creation He loved

Be consumed in eternal damnation

Forever separated from God above

So ever since the Fall of man

When sin reared its ugly head

We were separated from the holy

God planned to give Himself instead

He chose to pay our debt

For every wrong we’ve done

So we could live with Him

Our freedom to be won

He came as a Child and lived here on earth

So He could break the grip of sin’s chains

Death: the only way to be with us

He willingly chose in spite of the pain

He died the death we deserve

A ransom we could not pay

So that when this life is over

With Him we could fly away

He left His throne on high

To walk the streets of dust

So He could buy our freedom
