Devotions: Wings of Safety

For You have been my help,
And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
Psalm 63:7 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

We find ourselves in the shadow of God’s wings because we have turned to Him for help, because we have trusted Him above all others. Some only turn to God as a last resort, but that doesn’t count (ask the Israelites who only turned to God and listened to His warnings as they were about to be defeated.) Some never trust God completely, implicitly. But we cannot rest in the shadow of His wings unless we do that: unless He is the first one we turn to, unless we trust Him above all else. If we do that, then He will be our help and we will have reason to sing for joy! Do you trust God with everything, even your sin? Do you turn to Him only when all other options fail? Learn from history, turn to Him first, trust Him completely, make Him your closest confidant and greatest hero. Then He will give you cause to sing for joy!
