for
God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the
churches of the saints.
1 Corinthians 14:33 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
This verse comes in the
middle of a passage where Paul is giving instruction on how a church should
operate. The beginning of the sentence says that everyone who speaks (whether
making a natural comment or prophetic uttering) should take turns and allow
others the opportunity to speak. Everything should be done properly and in an
orderly fashion. God is not a God of chaos or disorder. One look at creation
and science (bearing in mind how it was originally created to be) will show the
orderliness of what God creates, of how He made the world to be. Another look
at His Word shows that He does not desire for us to be confused but to know
exactly what He means and what we should do. That is how our fellowship should
be, not chaotic but peaceful, tranquil, harmonious. We should not selfishly
demand that we have first say, or show off what we know or can do. We should
humbly allow for others, be at peace with all, working together for the good of
each other and the body as a whole. Our times together should be times of rest,
where we can leave restored and refreshed. That is how God created us to be,
that is how heaven is, that is what we should strive for. Seek God’s peace, not
only in your life, but also in your fellowship with others.
