Devotions: The Most Satisfying Meal

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”
John 6:35 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Food and water are two things that every creature needs daily for survival. It is something we all seek and strive to obtain, and we will spend every day of our lives doing that. Yet Jesus offers us permanent, eternal sustenance. With Him we will never hunger or thirst. This does not mean that we will never need physical food or water. He is referring to spiritual sustenance. Just as we are all created with the need for physical sustenance, we are also created with the need for spiritual food, the need for God. Most do not recognize that longing as such. They only realize they have an unmet desire which they cannot fill, and spend their lives trying one thing after another which only leaves them more hungry. Only Jesus can fill that void. Only He can satisfy the deepest longing of our souls. Everything of this world will only leave us wanting more, unquenched and unsatisfied. Turn to Jesus, the true bread and fountain of life. Let Him satisfy you.
