Jesus
said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will
live even if he dies,”
John 11:25 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
In Christ we have the hope
and promise of eternal life. He not only gives us abundant life here on earth,
but also life for the rest of eternity. Many believed (then and now) that when
we die that’s it. When our physical life ends there is no more, but that is
wrong. Our souls continue forever. So we have a choice: to live forever with
God in heaven, or to live forever in eternal condemnation (which probably isn’t
considered “living”). With Christ we have the promise of escaping eternal
condemnation (even though that is what we all deserve.) The catch is that we
must have a saving faith in Him. This requires more than merely saying He is
our Savior. It requires repentance for our sin (admitting and agreeing with God
that it is wrong and then turning away from that sin) and submitting our lives
to Him to live as He commands. It requires transformation into His likeness. It
is not that transformation earns our salvation, it proves our salvation. It is
something God does when we give our lives to Him. We exchange our worldly lives
destined for destruction for His life (sacrificed for us). It is only in giving
our lives to Him that we are promised eternal life in glory. He has the power
and authority, but we must go to Him for it. Do you have a saving faith in
Jesus? If not, consider giving your life to the King of kings. If you do, do
you feel secure in your place in eternity? He will give what He has promised.
If you believe in Him, you will receive it. Believe and have faith.
