Devotions: Life or Death

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

We each have this choice every day. Salvation is not necessarily on the line, but if we choose the world, if we choose sin, we choose destruction. The only way to have life is to choose God, to love and obey God, to hold tight to Him and His word. This does not mean to go to church on Sunday and live however we want the rest of the week. We need to live for God every moment of every day. We need to continually be choosing life by choosing His way always, every choice we make. These choices don’t just affect us, they affect our future generations. The way we live impacts the way our children will live and so on. It influences the way other people live too. Others watch our example. Do your actions and choices encourage others to choose life or death? Do you love and obey God in everything you do? Do you hold tight to Him no matter what? Is He your top priority?
