And He remembered His covenant for their sake,
And relented according to the greatness of His lovingkindness.
He also made them objects of compassion
In the presence of all their captors.
And relented according to the greatness of His lovingkindness.
He also made them objects of compassion
In the presence of all their captors.
Psalm
106:45-46 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
This psalm recounts
from Moses to the exile, God’s faithfulness and Israel ’s rebellion. God always took
them back but they repeatedly turned away from Him until He finally turned them
over to capture. Even then, He did not withdraw completely. God is always
faithful, even in the midst of discipline. Not only did God have compassion on
them, but He caused them to receive compassion from those who conquered them. God
is so great in mercy and love! He never gives up on us, nor turns away from us
forever. No matter what we have done, He will have compassion when we repent. Not
only will He have compassion on us, but He can cause others to as well, if we
need it. He is not stingy in His love or gifts. He can right every wrong if we
will turn to Him. In the midst of your suffering can you say, as the author did
at the end of this psalm; “Save me Lord so I can give thanks to You. Blessed be
Your Name!”? Turn to God, repent, trust in His goodness and praise the Lord.
