Devotions: Walking in Freedom

And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek Your precepts.

Psalm 119:45 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Another way to say “at liberty” is “in freedom,” we will walk in freedom if we seek God’s precepts, or commands. Freedom comes from obedience to God and seeking to do His will. We should seek to do what God wants us to do, rather than doing what we want. Salvation comes from belief in the truth, but it only applies to us if we also live by the truth. Again, it is not that our actions save us, but they are proof that we are saved, proof of what we believe. If we do not obey God, we prove that we do not believe what God says. That results in slavery to sin. But we can be set free by Christ, by seeking His will and word. Then we can walk in freedom, not bound by sin and the Law, but free to live in His grace and love. Remember that freedom is not free. It comes at a cost. The price paid for our freedom is the blood of Christ. If we believe that, we will live according to His Word and be truly free. Walk in freedom! Seek His Word!
