Devotions: Number 1

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;
His understanding is infinite.

Psalm 147:5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Our Lord is the greatest, most important being alive with great strength and power. This may seem obvious, but it is important that we recognize and accept God’s greatness and rank. He MUST be the greatest, most important, most powerful and strongest being or He is not God. Then there would be someone or something higher than He is. He would not have the power or authority to pay for our sins, and we would have no reason to trust Him. I think that is the basis of many people’s doubt in God, they do not fully accept that He is number one. They don’t view Him as most powerful or important, so they do not trust Him fully. The enemy uses that to cast doubt. But God is the most powerful. He has all control and wisdom. His way is best. It is imperative that we believe and trust that. What God knows, what He understands, is infinite. There is no end to it. He knows everything that was, is and will be. He can see it all at a glance. That amount of information is beyond our ability to fathom or grasp. We could not handle that level of information. That is why we can and should trust God, because He knows and understands what we are incapable of comprehending.

Do you trust God? Do you believe that He is the smartest, strongest, most important being in existence? Have you made Him Lord of your life? I don’t just mean “asking Him into your heart” but have you surrendered your life to Him, and decided to follow Him, making Him the King and ultimate authority in your life? Ask God to help you understand how much mightier He is. Ask Him to restore your awe of Him.
