The Lord supports all who fall,
And raises up all who are bowed down.
Psalm 145:14 New
American Standard Bible (NASB)
The Lord sustains those who
fall and raises up those who are brought low. This can apply to a broad spectrum
of situations. When a Christian is tempted, falls into temptation or is
depressed over sin, God gives them hope and forgiveness. When someone is
brought to the point of death in suffering, emotionally or physically, He
brings them new life and sustains them. When we are distressed by the hard
times we face, He comforts us. When we are burdened by the weight of sin and
this world, He gives us strength and joy. Whatever situation we face, God is
there to lift us up, to keep us going, to keep us from giving up or giving in.
He is there beside us. He knows the difficulties we face. He feels the pain we
are in. We are not alone. He gives us what we need to get through what we face
if we will turn to Him, rely on Him, trust and obey Him. David knew well these
circumstances for he experienced all of them. He was tempted, fell into sin,
and faced despair because of his sin. He was brought low emotionally and
physically, and was oppressed greatly. Yet God sustained him because he sought
the Lord whole heartedly. What are you facing? What has brought you down or
caused you to fall? Suffering, sin nor sadness cannot take us away from God.
None of them are evidence of His abandonment. He is there if you will call on
Him. Turn to Him in faith and repentance. Seek His face and He will lift you up.
