Bless
the Lord,
O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Psalm 103:2-3 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
Another way of saying “bless
the Lord” is “praise Him.” This is an invitation to praise God and to remember
(don’t forget) what He has done for us. What has He done? He forgives our sin
(all of it), and heals our diseases. That may seem like a short list, but it
involves a lot. We do not deserve to be forgiven for any of our sin. We deserve
to be punished, and we do experience the consequences and discipline for some
of our sin, but no where near the extent that we deserve. He made a way to pay
for our sin, something we are completely incapable of doing, and if we repent
of it and ask Him to forgive us He will. He is also our great Healer. This does
not mean that we will be miraculously healed whenever we ask. God’s ways and
timing is not our own, and we need to trust His plan. But we will be healed.
Somehow, sometime we will be healed. More important than being healed
physically, we will be healed spiritually from the disease called sin. Let all
that I am praise the Lord, and may I never forget all the good He has done for
me!
