Devotions: The God of Comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
~

God is the Creator and Father of every good thing. He had mercy on us even when we were enemies with Him because of our sin. He is also the father of comfort. His name is love. He is the epitome of love, kindness, gentleness, etc. and He embodies those things completely and perfectly. He cannot be mean, cruel or even indifferent. He can only be loving toward us, so when we come to Him with our pain and sorrow, He will comfort us with His love and peace. He is our only true source of consolation, the only One that can give us true peace. And He gives us comfort to the extent that we will be able to give it to others. His love benefits us most when we share it.
