“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.”
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.”
Isaiah 43:2 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
God said this to Israel , and it
was true because He had redeemed them. As believers, we are also included in
the list of the redeemed, so this promise applies to us as well. Notice that it
does not say “if” but “when.” We will
go through deep, raging waters and walk through fire. It is a part of life and
our status as children of God does not exempt us from it. But we have this
promise that when we go through it,
He will be with us. We will not drown, be swept away, scorched or burned. He
will protect us in the midst of the trials we face. That is the difference our
faith makes. All people experience hardship, but as believers, we don’t face it
alone. We have God to guide and protect us. We won’t go through it alone. That
is a promise, and God never goes back on His word. What are you going through?
What troubles are you facing? Are you trusting in God to get you through it,
relying on His strength, wisdom and guidance? Take comfort in the fact that He
is there and will rescue you if you trust Him, in His time. Even if you feel
alone, He is there.
