Therefore you too have
grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no
one will take your joy away from you.
John 16:22 New American Standard
Bible (NASB)
Grief is not foreign to
anyone. We all experience grief in some way at some time. That is part of
living in a world filled with sin, but that is not the end of the story. Jesus
came to give us joy, joy in His love and salvation. When we give our hearts to
Him, we find a reason to rejoice. His Spirit fills us with joy and that is something
no one can take away from us. It is something we can lose sight of, however. We
can allow ourselves to get caught up in the sorrows of this world and forget
about that joy, forget the eternal value of our relationship with Jesus. Yet we can
get it back. All we have to do is return our gaze to Him, remind ourselves of
the reasons we have to rejoice, focus on Him and His promises rather than on
the troubles around us. Allow Christmas to remind you of the reasons you have
to rejoice, let it restore joy to your heart.
