Devotions: All for One, One for All

So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.
Romans 5:18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

We have salvation through Jesus. He died so that we could be covered by His righteousness. But we need that because one man, the first man, sinned. As a result, we all have a sin nature and are condemned. If it were not right for Adam’s sin to affect all of us, then it would also not be right for Jesus’ sacrifice to affect all of us. It is because of Adam’s sin that we need Jesus’ sacrifice. If Adam’s sin didn’t affect us we wouldn’t need Jesus. Adam’s sin cursed all of creation instantly, and flawed creatures produce more flawed creatures, after their own kind as God designed. Perfection cannot be made by imperfection. Instead of rebelling at the idea that we are cursed by Adam, praise God that we are saved by Jesus!
