Devotions: Reason to Keep On

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

This verse is at the end of a passage which talks about the mystery of the resurrection, exclaiming that through Jesus we have victory over death! Because of this victory, we should be strong and immovable, enthusiastically working for God, remembering that nothing we do for God is ever useless! This is our purpose, this is what should keep us going and give us motivation to keep pursuing growth in godliness! We have victory in Jesus! Death cannot defeat us. Sin does not have to control us. We have the promise of eternal life! These facts should give us the courage and determination to work for God, to be passionate about serving Him. Even when it seems like what we do is pointless, it is never wasted. Take courage! Be strong and unwavering in your faith! Don’t let the world quench your zeal for God, but keep working toward the prize, eternal life! It will not be in vain!
