Devotions: Transformed or Conformed

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

We have two choices, God or the world. We cannot have both, nor can we be both. We are either like God or like the world. Of course, we are all a work in progress, no one is perfect, but we are either becoming more like God or staying (or even becoming more) like the world. The trick is that we prove whose we are by our likeness. How can people know we are God’s or come to know God through us if we are not like Him? It is so important for us to stay true to God, to seek to become like Him, to immerse ourselves in Him so that He can transform us. Our minds need to be renewed by His word so that we can change. If we don’t submit our minds and lives to God, if we don’t immerse ourselves in Him, our minds cannot be renewed. They say “you are what you eat” and it applies to our minds as well. If we feed our minds with the world, we will be like the world. If we feed our minds with God’s Word, we will be like God. We cannot know what God’s will is if we are filled with the world. We cannot know goodness, perfection, purity, righteousness, or anything else good unless we are filled with God. What are you filling your mind with? Are you being transformed or conformed?
