Devotions: Future Compassion

Foreigners will build up your walls,
And their kings will minister to you;
For in My wrath I struck you,
And in My favor I have had compassion on you.
Isaiah 60:10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Israel had sinned horribly and was punished for their idolatry. Foreign armies were brought in to destroy their land and carry them into captivity. But that is not the end of the story. It eventually reversed. God later used foreigners to rebuild Jerusalem, to return the Israelites to their homeland. God was angry and would no longer tolerate their sin. But His favor and compassion prevailed and He restored them. His anger does not last forever, nor is it as severe as our sin warrants. Submit to His discipline and wait for His compassion. It will come!
